Gas Dryers and how they work!

Washing and drying clothes was never considered fun but with the latest Gas dryers the task has become very easy. Apart from this natural gas renders a clean and efficient fuel for your dryers. The work is achieved economically as well.

The latest dryers operated on gas are designed for efficient performance and to include features like pilotless ignition and automatic shutoff. Research has proved these new dryers operated by gas uses 30% less energy than the older models. The cost of drying a 12-pound mixed load in a gas dryer is 14¢ and the same work when done in electric dryer costs 44¢.

Workings of a dryer operated on gas:

Actually clothes are dehydrated by vaporizing water from textiles. Heat and air flow with tumbling action the clothes are dried. A fan absorbs in fresh air and guides it over the gas heating element where it is heated. The heating element is thermostatically operated and involuntarily ignited. The heated air is carried through the drum and the clothes in the drum are tumbled. The warm air takes in all the moisture and this moisture is sent out from the dryer via a lint filter. The process will continue till all the moisture is removed.

Energy utilization for dryers operated on gas is very low. Exact venting and selection of drying cycles assure greater efficiency. A gas dryer should dehydrate your laundry thoroughly. This has to be achieved without over drying the clothes. The machine should automatically turn off when the clothes attain the stage of selected degree for dryness. Other factors to be considered are size, price, energy efficiency, controls and features.

Dryers have a variety of drum sizes which handle loads from 5 to 20 pounds. You can know the capacity of the dryer which is displayed on a sticker. The width of a standard gas dryer is 27 to 29 inches and the height which includes the control panel is 43 inches. Compact dryers are best suited for apartments. They can be easily set on a rack just above the washer.

Controls normalize drying time and temperature. Most of the models have electronic controls these days. Electronic controls will add to the price of the dryer. But they are not informative as dial controls. Dial controls show the area of the cycle in which you are during operation. A dryer generally has a single dial with time and temperature controls. They possess two basic cycles which are regular and air. You also have the solid state touch controls which have electronic moisture sensors.

Other power schemes of gas dryers include automatic cycles which are designed for custom drying for a variety of clothes and laundry loads.
