Charles T. Jorgensen founded Jorgensen Conveyors, Inc. in 1950. Initially, the company was in all phases of general conveyor design, installation and manufacture in many types of manufacturing applications. Our early customers included major manufacturing companies such as International Harvester, American Motors, AO Smith, Ford Motor Company, JI Case and General Motors. Conveyor types included belt, overhead trolley, roller, heavy duty scrap handling and apron conveyors, slat and chain conveyors.
In the mid '50's Jorgensen began to get involved in conveyors for machine tool applications involving transfer and pallet shuttle systems. Along with these systems, Jorgensen began to build metal belt conveyors to handle chips, turnings and scrap produced by machine tools.
Jorgensen designed its own belt on recognizing the weaknesses of existing metal belts. In 1954 the first stamping dies to produce belt parts were made. At this point, the OEM machine tool market was starting to become a substantial part of Jorgensen's business.
In the succeeding years, Jorgensen continued to refine and improve their original design, and developed its present patented 2-1/2" pitch chain featuring the off-set side wings, chain parts, chain side bars and axles that pass through the hinge loops of the belt apron plates. This design development was a major factor in Jorgensen becoming a key player in the growing machine tool chip conveyor market. It was and still is an ideal chain for the end-user customer since it is so easy to take the belt apart for maintenance purposes
During the '60's, Jorgensen also designed 4", 6", and 9" pitch apron belt. In 1975 they developed a 1-1/2" pitch belt used primarily for machine tool chip conveyors. This development was driven by the machine tool industry's trend for building smaller machines allowing less space for the chip conveyor.
In 1995 Jorgensen developed the Filterveyor, a chip removal system that addresses the coolant filtration requirements of many of today's high speed CNC metal-cutting machine tools.
Today, Jorgensen enjoys a leading position in U.S. OEM machine-tool market. Major end-user industries served include automotive, construction and agricultural equipment, appliance, aerospace and contract machine shops. Recently Jorgensen established a joint venture with a company in the
Jorgensen's design innovation and willingness to build to the customers specifications in the formative years of the machine tool chip conveyor market helped to establish our leading position in the industry. The company continues to be operated and owned by third generation descendants of Charles T. Jorgensen. Jorgensen presently operates in a 100,000 square foot office and manufacturing facility in

Jorgensen’s 1 1/2" Pitch Hinged Steel Belt Conveyors Ideal for handling small parts, stampings, scrap, chips, turnings, material wet or dry, horizontal or elevating, single or multiple unit systems. All conveyors are custom fabricated to customer's requirements to insure proper fit.
Conveyors can be made-up with coolant reservoir for machine tool application where coolant and cutting oil are involved. For complete design flexibility you get a choice of conveyor type with any reasonable belt width and design, length legs and angles, and drive systems with optional safety equipment.
The belt specification consists 3” to 24” width, drive with heavy duty motor speed reducer size depending on belt speed and load. Frame with 11 gauge steel, stationary or portable. Its bearings are grease sealed and self-aligning ball bearings. Ratchet clutch is used for safety measures. Belt with coolant drainage perforations and leak-proof bottom panel optional is available.

The belt specification consists 3” to 60” width, drive with heavy duty motor speed reducer size depending on belt speed and load. Frame with 11 gauge steel, stationary or portable. Its bearings are grease sealed and self-aligning ball bearings. Ratchet clutch or torque limited is used for safety measures. Belt with coolant drainage perforations and leak-proof bottom panel optional is available.
The side wings are not welded, instead, each part is made up of extra heavy gauge steel which is held on by an axle that passes through it. It's almost impossible for a wing or any other part to be damaged. It takes only a few minutes to eliminate retainer and replace the damaged part. There's no drilling out of spot welds or grinding down of arc welds. Here down time is less. That's how our patented design keeps production flying.
Jorgensen offers Magnetic conveyors featuring high quality, Low Cost, move ferrous materials, ideal for cast iron, faster and easier recycling resulting from coolant draining off, no moving external parts, submersible watertight construction, no belts to replace and totally enclosed. It is ideal for cast iron machining operations where fines are too small and numerous for effective removal by conventional conveyor systems.
